The first edition was won by Englishman William (Bill) Morganell, who became one of the greatest players ever. Since then, the tournament has been contested by a list of greats.

How to Get to Wimbledon?
The first step to the Wimbledon tennis tournament is getting to London. The city has many hotels catering to all budgets and travel needs. If you’re traveling with a group, consider staying in one of the many convenient city center hotels.
The second step is to find a way to get to the club. There are numerous options, the easiest being a ground transportation bus pass. These can be purchased online or in-person at club offices and nearby sports stores.
The last step is to get to the grounds. The club has several entrances, but the main one is the Royal Box, located at the center of the lawns. All spectators, including media, must pass through this gate to get to the property.
Wimbledon is always held between the weeks of June 26 and July 27. The event starts two weeks before the rest of the world, on the Saturday before Labour Day (aka Canada Day).
