And before you complain that Poland aren’t really heavyweights, they are by some distance the strongest challenger to England in Group I of the European qualifiers. England, with five wins from five, is currently top the group with 15 points, but Poland, with three wins, a draw and a defeat sit in second with 10 points.
Poland are also on something of a roll right now, having put 7 goals past San Marino on Sunday and 4 past Albania on Thursday. Robert Lewandowski bagged three goals in those two games, and he’ll once again be the main threat tomorrow.
The Poles also have home advantage, and given that they only narrowly lost 2-1 at Wembley, they’ll be hopeful of getting something from this game.
For England, another win here would all but seal qualification with four games left, particularly given that two of those games are against Andorra and San Marino. Coach Gareth Southgate would probably be happy with a draw against their toughest rivals, but fresh off the back of two 4-0 victories and that Euro 2020 final run, don’t be surprised if they come away with all the points.
Team-wise, Jadon Sancho, Dominic Calvert Lewin, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden are all out injured, but Southgate has plenty of quality to call up as replacements.
