How to adjust Paintball Gun Velocity? A Brief Idea

Velocity adjustment is the most common and easiest way to make your paintball gun shoot harder or softer according to the tournament’s demand or your need. To be able to do this, you need to know how to adjust paintball gun velocity.

Frankly, this could be done quickly by the velocity adjuster on your paintball gun. However, if you are unsure about the velocity adjuster or where to adjust the velocity, you must look at the user manual that comes with the gun.

Changing of Velocity on a Paintball Gun

As a paintball player, adjusting or changing the velocity of a paintball gun would be your essential requirement in different fields. That’s why you must know how do you change the velocity on a paintball gun.

Basic paintball guns have a screw for adjusting the mainspring tension, which controls the airflow out of the valve. That screw directly influences the velocity of your paintball gun.

To avoid any inconvenience during the game, check the maximum with a chronograph so that you will not exceed the field’s velocity safety limits.

The higher velocity could have its disadvantages which can cause trouble, including injury to other players and reducing accuracy.

You need continuous velocity adjustment in the longest range paintball gun to make it more effective against your opponents.

Most of the high velocity paintball guns have a screw adjustment on the side of the marker that adjusts the velocity. Suppose you turn the screw in a clockwise direction, it minimizes the flow of gas, and ultimately velocity goes down.

However, turning the screw in an anti-clockwise direction increases the flow of air, and eventually, the gun’s velocity rises.

There is another way to adjust the velocity of your paintball marker. You can use a regulator to adjust the velocity of your paintball gun. These regulators allow you to adjust the velocity of the paintball marker quickly and easily.

You can also adjust the velocity of the homemade super velocity paintball guns. But, it would be helpful to know which kind of velocity adjuster you have used in the construction of the gun.

There are different types of velocity adjusters, such as regulators, bolts, and screws; if you know about your velocity adjuster, it would be a child’s play.

Some paintball guns are designed uniquely, and you can’t change their velocity by hand like a screw mentioned above. Therefore, you must be aware of adjusting the paintball gun velocity of those kinds of markers.

Adjustment of Tippmann TiPX Paintball Gun

To make Tippmann TiPX velocity adjustment, you need a 3/16” Allen wrench which comes with your paintball gun. The velocity adjustment crew of this gun is located at the back of the receiver of your marker.

If you want to reduce the velocity, you need to turn the screw clockwise with the wrench. However, to increase the velocity, turn the screw in the anti-clockwise direction.

Caution: Do not use a smaller wrench; it could cause malfunctioning of your gun.

Velocity adjustment of a Spyder Paintball Gun

If you have the basic knowledge about how to adjust the velocity on a Spyder paintball gun, you can easily adjust it. However, for the people who are not familiar, you have to turn the spring guide or adjuster to increase or decrease the velocity.

To increase the speed of the ball, you need to turn the adjuster/spring guide in the clockwise direction. In addition, you turn the adjuster/spring guide anti-clockwise to reduce the speed of the ball or velocity.
