How can I keep my college work organized?
Being a college student usually means that you are in a race against time, and that ends us up in chaotic and messy situations that are difficult to undo.
It is a very normal and common thing that lots of students struggle with just because there is so much going on. You don’t only have classes to keep up with, but there’s also a social life, relationships, extracurriculars or hobbies to maintain!
Since there are only 24 hours in a day, you can only do so much, right?
The most important thing you need to figure out as a college student is to figure out time management, which goes hand in hand with keeping your life organized as well.
While this is easier said than done, I can tell you that it is not impossible and I have seen lots of people be successful in their time management efforts.
I have a couple of simple tips that are easy yet highly effective when it comes to keeping your college work organized, but the key thing here is that you have to be consistent in following them.
Have a set space to study
If you feel like you are one of those people who can “just study anywhere”; don’t. It is always better to have a designated space where all you need to do is study.
While this also depends on what you are studying, this tip is very much effective in keeping things organized and your workload at a minimum. Once you have a designated space to study, you will also make it a point to take out time to study. And this doesn’t have to be a crazy and unrealistic amount of time. We’re human beings, and we reach a saturation point.
Use a calendar
Get a calendar that you can carry around with you so that you can pencil in all the important events, such as deadlines for assignments and homeworks, and never forget them.
A calendar will be a very important tool in helping you organize your college workload because a lot of students have the misconception that they can retain everything in memory which isn’t practical most of the time.
You can also use your calendar to write down the nice things that happen in your day, and it will be a great memorial keepsake to look back to after your college years.
Use a planner
A planner has helped me in more ways than I can begin to describe. It is not only exciting to use a planner, but having everything important in one place just makes things that much easier! A planner will be your holy grail item, and will be monumental in keeping your college life organized.
Even the smallest things that come to your head such as “I need help writing my paper” should be jot down in your planner, and you will make it a point to get the necessary help to accomplish your task just because you have it written down.
