Football has always been a big part of global culture. It is popular among all age groups, and since the Premier League was established in 1992, it has become one of the most watched leagues in the world. Here are ten Premier League greatest strikers who have set the bar high for all other strikers:
10. Thierry Henry
Thierry Henry was an excellent footballer and has one of the most successful careers in the history of football. He is the second-highest goalscorer in Premier League history with 175 goals and he won two league titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, a UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and a European Cup.
Henry is well known for his speed, technique and finishing ability as a striker. He scored over 30 goals in six consecutive seasons for Arsenal from 1997-2002 and is still the club’s all-time leading goal scorer.
He also played for Barcelona before finishing his career at New York Red Bulls.
9. Sergio Aguero
Aguero is one of the Premier League’s greatest strikers for Manchester City and the Argentine national team. He made his debut with Independiente at the age of 15 and became the youngest player to play in Argentina’s Primera División. Aguero played in two World Cups and won a silver medal with Argentina in 2004 Olympics. Aguero has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup, five Community Shield, one Spanish Super Cup and one Copa America.
8. Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Ruud Van Nistelrooy is one of the most successful strikers in Premier League history. He scored a whopping 150 goals and won the title five times with Manchester United. He also had two spells at Real Madrid, where he became their all-time top scorer by scoring 118 goals in just 140 games. His highlights include being named UEFA Champions League top scorer, FIFA World Player of the Year, and finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer four times.
7. Alan Shearer
Alan Shearer is one of the most prolific strikers in Premier League history. In fact, he’s the top scorer in Premier League history with 260 goals in all competitions. He also holds the record for most seasons as an England international (6), as well as being the only player to date to score a hat-trick of headers at international level. As if that wasn’t enough, he was also European Footballer of the Year in 1994 and BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 1996.
Shearer’s career began when he joined Southampton from Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £3.6 million in 1992, which was then a world record transfer fee. His successful time at Southampton led to him being loaned out to Newcastle United where he would go on and set another English footballing record: Newcastle United’s all-time top scorer with 206 league goals and 260 league goals overall. His consistency earned him a spot on the PFA Team of the Year seven times and made him captain of both Southampton and Newcastle United.

6. Robbie Fowler
Robbie Fowler first joined Liverpool as a youth player in 1987. He made his debut for the senior team in 1993 and by 1997, he was leading the club’s goal-scoring list. In 2001, he became the highest scoring player in Premiership history and also led the league with 26 goals to win the Golden Boot award. After playing with Liverpool for 11 years, he transferred to Leeds United and then Manchester City before finally finishing his career at Cardiff City.

Gary Lineker is the all-time leading scorer for England with 48 goals. He was an integral part of the 1986 FIFA World Cup, where he scored six goals in six games, including two in extra time against West Germany in the semi-final and one in the final against Argentina.
