Exhausted From Work? 4 Practical Tips to Take Control Again

Did you know that 83% of U.S. employees suffer from work-related stress?

We all have those days when we feel like we just don’t have the energy to get through the day. Maybe it’s because you’re working long hours and not getting enough sleep, or perhaps you’ve been pushing yourself too hard for too long. Or maybe you’re just getting older and your body is slowing down.

Whatever the reason, feeling exhausted from work can be a serious problem that affects productivity, mood, and even overall health

Here are four practical tips for fighting exhaustion at work.

1. Get Enough Sleep

Sleep allows your body to recover from the day’s activities and prepare for the next day. If you don’t get enough sleep, your body’s systems can’t function properly and you’re more likely to be drained from working and make poor decisions.

The amount of sleep needed varies from person to person, however, doctors recommend between 7-9 hours per night for adults. If you’re having trouble getting enough sleep or staying asleep, talk to your doctor about how to improve your sleep habits.

2. Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly is another great way of dealing with stress from work. It gives your body the energy it needs to function properly throughout the day and helps you feel better overall as well.

You don’t have to exercise by running ten miles or going for a long bike ride. Even small amounts of exercise can make a big difference in how much energy you have throughout the day.

3. Take Time for Yourself During the Day

Even if it’s just 15 minutes, carve out some time for yourself at work so you don’t feel you have any time left over when you get home.

And if you can’t take time away from your desk during the day, try going outside for a walk as soon as you get home, even if it’s dark out. This will give you some fresh air and help clear your head before getting started on dinner or whatever else is on your agenda for the evening.

4. Set Limits on Your Workload

When you’re exhausted from overworking, try setting limits on how much you should take on at once.

For example, if you’re trying to do too much work at home, but still need a good night’s sleep every night, then set a limit on how much work you’ll do before bed each night. This way, you won’t feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to get done and will focus more clearly on each task rather than trying to accomplish everything at once.
