7 Bodybuilding Mistakes Beginners Do and Fail At Attaining Results

If you are an aspiring bodybuilder, this is for you. Almost nobody in their young age can escape the temptation of building a muscular body and looking well-toned.

But there are some rules that most of them ignore and make several mistakes that lead them to nowhere in their bodybuilding journey. They spend years and stay where they were, and at some point, they lose courage and give up. Here are some of those mistakes that you should check and correct if you are doing them.

1. Overtraining

Enthusiasm pushes people to become overtraining. They ignore the rule of starting from the low and go up eventually as their strength increases. As a result, they overdo and put unnecessary stress on their muscles and never give time to recover.

Tip: Do not overdo it, and do not do it yourself. Take the help of a trainer, have good gym equipment sets, and follow a training and diet plan.

2. Training too fast

What is the hurry? Do it slowly. Keep your movements slow to give your muscle enough time to bear the weight. According to the study conducted by the University of Sao Paulo, the rule of weight training is to take one second for lifting and two seconds for lowering. Slow weightlifting movements help build more muscles and strength.

Tip: Weight training is not a one-off activity. It is a process of transformation. Go slow and enjoy it.

3. Ignoring safety

Ever heard about a workout injury? It is not just the muscle strain. There are many other injuries you may suffer when you ignore safety rules while exercising. For example, sprained ankle, wrist sprain or dislocation, knee or shoulder injury, and many others. Ultimately, it leads to a gap in training and loss of muscles you have gained so far.

Tip: Learn the techniques. Do not follow the No Pain No Gain maxim all the time and if you feel hurt doing an exercise, drop it.

4. Using equipment the wrong way

Has it been a long time since you have started exercising daily and still not seeing muscle growth? Then it may be that you are using some of your equipment the wrong way. For example, if you are doing a bench press, using a wide grip may cause a shoulder injury instead of growing your muscles.

Tip: Learn the right ways of using/holding gym equipment.

5. Not staying regular

As I mentioned, bodybuilding is a process of transformation. And it will happen only when you stay regular. Many people exercise rigorously, get injured or too exhausted, and skip the session the next day. If you are doing it this way, you will not see any result even after years.

Tip: Consult a bodybuilding expert and prepare a plan that suits your capacity. And follow it if you want to see the results.

6. Doing the same exercise on consecutive days

What if you have to eat the same type of food for two or more days consecutively? You wouldn’t be able to enjoy or may even feel uncomfortable. The same is true with your muscles. They don’t feel comfortable when you do the same heavy training day after day. Ultimately they will shrink instead of growing.

Tip: Focus on one body part or one core muscle each day.

7. Consuming junk food after the workout session

It’s easy to have a false sense of accomplishment and feel the need to devour junk food as a reward after a workout session. If you are doing so, you need to stop there as junk foods contain a lot of carb and fat. Mainly sugary food will give you empty calories and less nutrition leading to many health problems and no muscle growth.

Tip: Have a diet plan and strictly follow it to gain results.

Final words

A well-toned muscular body results from consistent and persistent efforts in addition to proper fitness equipment, techniques, and training. Further, it takes patience and determination. We hope you will achieve your bodybuilding goals by avoiding mistakes and using the tips given in this article.
