5 Steps of Buying a Home 

One of the big steps in life that individuals are working towards is purchasing a home. There are a lot of factors that go into the decision of when and where to buy a home. When you get to the point that you are ready to make the leap into buying a home it can become overwhelming quickly. Get Pre-Approved

In today’s market, if you want to compete you need to have pre-approval. Most homes have multiple offers and something that can set you apart from others could be that you have already been approved for a loan for the amount. Find the lender that you want to use and fill out the application with all the information needed. This will allow you to get an idea of an interest rate, what your payments would be, and how much you can afford. 

Find a Realtor

Once you have gotten pre-approved and know your price range you will want to find a realtor. It does not cost you and they will be able to help you through the rest of the home buying process. They will show you homes that you are interested in, give you advice on pricing and point out things you should look for in a home. They are there to advocate for you through the process and help you get the home that you want. 

Put in an Offer

When you find the home that is right for you, you will want to put an offer in on that home. Your realtor will be the one to draft up the paperwork and you will be asked to go through it and sign where needed. There will be conversations before this about how much you want to offer, and if the asking price, is above or below. You will also need to decide how much you want to put toward earnest money. This is where you would ask for things such as having the carpet cleaning if wanted. 

Inspection

If your offer is accepted, then you are in contract on the home. The next step is to have an inspection done on the home. You can find someone on your own or your realtor may have someone they like to use. An inspector goes throughout the home and tests to see if everything is working as it should and if there are any problems that you need to be aware of before purchasing the home. You will receive a detailed report of their findings. 

Closing

Assuming everything goes well in the inspection, the next big step is getting to the closing on the purchase of your new home. You will sign what feels like a book of paperwork, get a final breakdown of payment, and once it is recorded with the county the home is yours. 

Getting Into a New Home

The process of purchasing a home can be stressful and overwhelming. There are a lot of things that go into the process. Get pre-approved by your lender and find a realtor that you like.
